International Patient Terms and International Data Transfer Notice

These terms apply to patients who reside outside the United Kingdom and who enquire about, travel for, or receive treatment at NCL Private Healthcare. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and Medical Disclaimer.

1. Eligibility

  • You must be aged 18 or over.
  • You must complete a video consultation with a GMC-registered clinician before any treatment booking is confirmed.
  • Clinical suitability is determined solely by the responsible clinician; an enquiry does not guarantee treatment.
  • You must be medically fit to travel, which may require confirmation from your own doctor.

2. Travel and visa

  • Travel to and from the United Kingdom is entirely your responsibility.
  • We can provide a letter confirming your appointment for visa application purposes, but we cannot guarantee that a visa will be approved.
  • We accept no liability for non-refundable travel costs incurred if a visa is refused or a treatment is cancelled for clinical reasons.
  • We strongly recommend you obtain comprehensive travel insurance, including medical cover, before booking flights.

3. Treatment confirmation and payment

  • A formal, written quotation covering all clinic fees is provided before any payment is made.
  • A deposit may be required to secure a surgical appointment. Deposit terms are stated in the quotation.
  • Balance payment terms are agreed in writing and must be met before treatment commences.
  • Refund terms for cancelled or postponed procedures are set out in the quotation.

4. Medicines and exports

Prescription medicines may be prescribed as part of your treatment plan. Before any medicine is dispensed, we will review whether export to your country of residence is lawful. We will not supply medicines where export would be unlawful under UK or destination country law. You are responsible for compliance with your country’s import requirements, including any customs declaration obligations. See our Prescription Policy.

5. Results and disclaimers

  • Individual results vary. We do not guarantee any specific clinical outcome.
  • Photographs on this website show individual patient results and are not a guarantee of similar outcomes.
  • Travel to the UK and visa approval are not guaranteed by NCL Private Healthcare.
  • We do not accept liability for any loss, cost or inconvenience arising from a cancelled or postponed treatment, visa refusal, or travel disruption.

6. Aftercare

  • Written aftercare instructions are provided before departure.
  • Remote follow-up video consultations are scheduled as part of your aftercare plan.
  • A direct emergency contact number is provided for the immediate post-treatment recovery period.
  • Local medical management of any complication is the patient’s responsibility; however, we will provide clinical guidance remotely.
  • In a medical emergency outside the UK, contact your local emergency service.

7. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You irrevocably agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales for any dispute, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide you with additional rights that cannot be waived.

International Data Transfer Notice

This section explains how NCL Private Healthcare transfers your personal data internationally, in compliance with UK GDPR Chapter V and ICO guidance on international transfers.

8. Why we transfer data internationally

When you submit an enquiry or use our services from outside the United Kingdom, your personal data (including health data where provided) is stored on our systems within the UK. However, the following transfers may occur:

  • Cloud and email infrastructure: our service providers may operate servers in multiple countries.
  • Payment processing: Stripe Inc. (USA) processes payment data; it uses Standard Contractual Clauses to legitimise transfers from the UK.
  • Video consultation platforms: may involve data transfer to the platform’s infrastructure country.
  • Your home country: aftercare documents and clinical summaries may be sent to you by email in your country of residence.

9. Safeguards for international transfers

We ensure that any transfer of personal data outside the UK is protected by appropriate safeguards, including:

  • UK adequacy regulations (where the destination country is covered);
  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the ICO;
  • Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs) where applicable;
  • Supplementary technical measures (encryption, access controls).

Where no adequacy decision exists and no other suitable safeguard applies, we will not transfer your personal data to that country — or will seek your explicit consent having first informed you of the possible risks.

10. Health data

Health information is special-category data under UK GDPR. We process it only with your explicit consent (given via the consent checkbox on our enquiry and assessment forms) or where necessary for the provision of healthcare. We apply heightened protection to health data and do not transfer it to third parties beyond those directly involved in your care.

11. Your rights

Your data-protection rights under UK GDPR apply regardless of your country of residence. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of your rights and how to exercise them. If you have concerns about international data transfers, contact us at info@nclprivatehealthcare.com.
