Prescription and Pharmacy Policy

1. Prescribing at NCL

All prescriptions issued at NCL Private Healthcare are written by GMC-registered clinicians who hold an appropriate licence to practise and are qualified to prescribe in the relevant therapeutic area. The GMC registration number of the prescribing clinician appears on every prescription.

Prescriptions are issued only after a face-to-face or video clinical assessment. We do not issue prescriptions based solely on an online questionnaire or without a clinician review.

2. Dispensing pharmacy

Medicines prescribed by our clinicians are dispensed by a pharmacy registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). The pharmacy registration number and address are provided with every dispensed medicine.

A named pharmacist is responsible for the safe dispensing and labelling of all medicines. Dispensed medicines are supplied with the patient information leaflet and appropriate usage instructions.

3. Prescription-only medicines (POM)

Prescription-only medicines (POM) are not advertised directly to the general public on this website, in compliance with MHRA advertising guidance (Human Medicines Regulations 2012, Regulation 280). Where prescription treatments are described for general educational purposes, this does not constitute a public advertisement of a POM.

POMs dispensed by us are supplied against a valid prescription only, to the named patient, for the specific condition for which they were prescribed.

4. Online medicine sales

We operate in compliance with the MHRA online medicine sales guidance. The registered pharmacy used to dispense medicines is listed on the NHS Business Services Authority register of internet pharmacies. Look for the EU common logo on medicines supplied online.

5. Repeat prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions require a periodic clinical review. The frequency of review is determined by the prescribing clinician and is appropriate to the medicine and the patient’s clinical situation. We do not issue indefinite repeat prescriptions without review.

6. International patients and medicine export

Medicines may not be legally exported to all countries. Before any prescription medicine is supplied to an international patient, we will review the laws of the patient’s destination country. We will not supply medicines where export would be unlawful. Patients are responsible for compliance with their country’s import laws. See also our International Patient Terms.

7. Storage and expiry

Medicines are dispensed with a dispensing date and expiry date clearly labelled. Do not use medicines after the expiry date. Store all medicines as instructed on the label. Do not transfer medicines to another person.

8. Reporting adverse reactions

If you experience a suspected adverse reaction to a medicine, report it to us and to the MHRA via the Yellow Card Scheme. In a medical emergency, call 999 (UK) or your local emergency service.

9. Medication waste

Do not dispose of medicines via household waste or down the sink. Return unused medicines to any registered pharmacy for safe disposal.
